What is Communities for Children?

The Benevolent Society delivers the Communities for Children (C4C) Initiative in partnership with local service providers and community groups in Campbelltown, Wyong Shire and Kempsey.  C4C works with the community to develop locally identified strategies which meet the needs of families with children under 12 years of age.  /uploads/images/babyinhat2.jpg

We focus on five priority areas:

  • healthy young families
  • child development
  • parents and families
  • child friendly communities
  • reducing disadvantage through social inclusion

Service areas

We work with the communities of Rosemeadow and Ambarvale (Campbelltown), the Southern Lakes area of Wyong Shire and the Macleay Valley Kempsey. These initiatives are distinct from each other because each community identifies different priorities and strategies to meet their needs.

The Communities for Children Initiative is funded by the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairts under the new Family Support Program. The Family Support Program provides prevention and early intervention programs to families with children up to 12 years, who are at risk of disadvantage and who remain disconnected from childhood services.
