Our intermediary service helps people affected by adoption to approach the person they have been searching for.
The way in which contact is made can impact upon the chances of a successful relationship developing.
In 2001 The Benevolent Society conducted research into contact and reunion. As outlined in our report At least now I know, we found that those who make contact through a letter or an intermediary have a significantly better chance of a positive reunion than those who make contact through a phone call or knocking on the door.
Using our intermediary service
There are three possible courses of action:
- PARC or PASQ, at your request, may approach and receive contact from the person you are seeking
- PARC or PASQ may make the approach and give the other party the choice of responding to PARC/PASQ or to you directly
- You may wish to make the approach yourself but offer the other party the choice of responding to you directly or to PARC/PASQ as a second option.
You can contact us to discuss any of these matters with a counsellor. In NSW and ACT contact PARC and in QLD contact PASQ. We advise you to read the Information Sheet below before making your decision.
